I realize that this is quickly turning into a "Charlotte drew a picture" platform, but hey, it's my blog, and today I finished this drawing of Angela from the Undine Isles world. Just a very gay mermaid and her lizard familiar. Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I'm obsessed. And it makes me realize anew just how special Derdriu's late wife is.

I'm so excited to share my illustrations of this world and these characters who mean everything to me. Two media are definitely better than one, and drawing helps me sort out all the thoughts I need in a row as a writer. It's magical to write and draw the same ideas and have them come out the same, despite the very different media. It feels like hitting a double bullseye.

I have never been quick to show artwork to anyone, but I think this change is down to the fact that my experience of school right now is so wildly positive. My classes and the WGSS world as a whole are profoundly empowering, and I have made one particularly life-changingly good friend. My old friend Meghan Bee is also editing The Undine Isles, and for the first time, I feel like things are really coming together the way that they need to.
